Firm Will Work With Five-State Network To Improve Teacher Effectiveness

Washington, D.C. – edCount, LLC announced today that it is partnered with ICF International and seven other entities to support the work of the Regional Educational Laboratory Mid-Atlantic (REL Mid-Atlantic) in providing valid research and best practices to help address the region’s priorities of dropout prevention, teacher effectiveness, early childhood education, and rural education.

ICF International was awarded a five-year, $32.8 million contract by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences (IES) to manage and lead research on these issues. Regional Educational Laboratories are federally-funded technical assistance centers designed to engage in applied research, development, dissemination, and training and technical assistance in support of the regions they serve.

edCount joins ICF International and its partners in working with a network of four research alliances across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia to produce and disseminate rigorous research and to build the capacity of states, districts, and schools to improve decision-making through the use of evidence.

edCount is directly supporting the work of the REL’s Teacher Effectiveness research alliance and will focus on improving the use of empirical evidence for teacher effectiveness by leading workshops and training, and by working with state and local education agencies to develop an understanding of research fundamentals and analyses of longitudinal data on teachers. edCount will also serve as a technical advisor on issues related to statewide longitudinal data systems, which play a crucial role in systematically analyzing student outcomes as they relate to improving educational systems.
