Antoinette Melvin, M.A.

Antoinette Melvin, M.A., is an Associate and English language arts (ELA) Specialist at edCount, LLC. Ms. Melvin has extensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for ELA and a specialty in technical writing. She has over a decade of experience leading K–12 ELA initiatives at the classroom, school, and district levels in North Carolina. These roles have given her a wide range of experiences with ELA standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Prior to joining edCount, Ms. Melvin provided leadership in North Carolina schools and districts by writing curriculum and assessments, collaborating with teachers on best practices within instruction, and collaborating with district leaders to provide curriculum implementation guidance and to create initiatives to improve student learning. Ms. Melvin has experience facilitating professional development for district-wide audiences, including teachers and administrative staff, to refine and improve instructional practices in ELA. Ms. Melvin has had comprehensive experience in utilizing standards-, research-, and evidence-based instructional practices to assist and guide her colleagues. Her professional experiences in education have cultivated Ms. Melvin’s skills in literacy instructional practices alongside her expertise in collaborating across teams to provide leadership and assistance where needed. Ms. Melvin earned her M.A. in English with a concentration in Multicultural and Transnational Literatures and a B.S. in English from East Carolina University.
